Free Consultation Visit
During a free consultation visit at your home, Richard will take measurements, talk through your specific requirements and come up with some initial ideas to work from. Richard loves to work with the character of your home, designing ways to optimise unused or awkward spaces so that they work effortlessly with how your family lives each day.
Quote, Bespoke Design Drawing & Deposit
Based on the information gathered at our initial meeting, Richard will put together a foundation drawing in order to form an initial plan to work from, along with a project quote and details of the deposit. When you’re ready to proceed and your deposit has been placed, a more detailed plan of your project is drawn up. Richard will design each piece around your space, combining your specifications and everyday functionality with unique personal details to make it truly bespoke. Should any adjustments need to be made to the design, we can arrange a meeting to go through your ideas. We will only begin the production of your piece once you are entirely happy with the drawings.
Template Visit & Material Samples
Before getting started in the workshop, Richard will visit your home to take detailed template measurements of the space to ensure your bespoke piece will fit perfectly. We value durability, beautiful quality and sustainability through the making of all of our projects and so he’ll come equipped with information, recommendations and samples of the highest-quality materials so that you can select what you’d like your piece to be made from.
Production Begins at Our Norfolk Workshop
Richard will begin to craft your piece at our Norfolk workshop. Refining techniques he’s perfected over 25 years, Richard will use both traditional and modern methods to create your piece from high-quality materials and FSC responsibly sourced wood. We welcome you to visit the workshop and see your piece come to life, simply book a time to pop-by with our team. The second payment towards the finished piece will be due whilst Richard is busy in the workshop. As your piece begins to take shape in the workshop, we will help you to choose paint colours and finishes such as wax, oils and stains, as well as any finishing touches including drawer pulls, handles, knobs or visible hinges.
Installation & Fitting
When your project is ready to be installed in your home, we will book in a time that works for you to complete the final fit. We treat every home with the same care as we do our own and so we ensure your space is protected whilst we work, using floor coverings and specialist extractor tools so that it’s left clean and tidy. If you require the skills of other tradesmen to integrate your project fully into your home, such as electricians or plumbers, we can arrange that for you too - we have a list of reliable, qualified and insured tradesmen that we work with on a regular basis.
Project Completion
Once the fit is complete, your final payment will be due. We will then provide you with a Cherry Tree Bespoke certificate of completion that details the materials used and product guarantees, along with references to specific colours and the finishes used, should you need them in the future.
Our Method & Materials
All of our work is crafted by hand at our artisanal workshop in North Norfolk combining time-honoured, traditional techniques with cutting-edge tools and quality materials in order to meet our high standards.

We are different in our approach in that we choose to create our furniture using timber that is thicker than most makers, as standard. We build with 9mm door panels and 12mm draw bottoms to ensure stability and illustrate our commitment to detail, quality and durability.
All drawer runners and hinges are German-engineered, and perform smoothly and reliably, accompanied by a lifetime guarantee. Using FSC responsibly-sourced solid wood, the finest hardwoods such as Oak, Tulip Wood and Maple, and durable materials MDF and Birchwood Ply, each piece is built to stand the test of time (and everyday family life).

Our work is finished with high-quality ironmongery and a choice of stains, oils, paints or polishes to highlight the character of the wood for a natural look, or to complement the interior design of your home.
We use water-based paints by Mylands, Farrow & Ball and Little Greene either hand-painted or sprayed, by us in-house. We are happy to help you source unique finishing touches or integrate your piece with the crafts of other skilled trades to complete the space.
